Disclaimer – I’m sure that I am biased since I helped plan the first ABA-IPL Trademark Day. It is hard to believe that on September 13th it will be the 5th annual event!
There is only one event each year that I know of where lawyers can hear from – and ask questions to – USPTO trademark examiners and officials for a whole day. The ABA-IPL Trademark Day: Behind the Scenes at the USPTO is a unique event for that reason alone. On September 13th, from 8:30 am to 4pm, on the campus of the USPTO, attendees get inside information from the USPTO and its leadership. They also get to hear a live TTAB hearing and learn from TTAB judges. Attendees also will learn about how Examiner’s go about doing their job, TEAS forms, petitions and letters of protest, the post-registration audit program, amending registrations based on evolving technology, and more. In addition, there is a networking lunch where those attending can talk to USPTO examiners and management.
In short, this is a full day of intensive and unique learning directly from the USPTO. It is a great program for new lawyers, law students, and even for experienced lawyers that want to learn the latest happenings inside the USPTO that could affect their client’s work.
The cost is just $50 – including lunch!
