Let's peek under the hood, so to speak, to look inside of week in the life of a trademark attorney. I love what I do because it is so varied - and our clients are so varied as well. Some clients are big, some are small, some are local, and some are on a different continent. In any given week, here are the things that cross my path:
- searching to clear new brand names
- filing applications with the USPTO
- responding to the USPTO
- communicating with clients
- sending a responding to cease and desist letters
- working on disputes
- teaching class
- meeting with software developers to improve our systems
- handling deadlines
- working with my colleagues
- talking with potential new clients
- reading or watching the latest updates from the USPTO
- reviewing reports of upcoming deadlines
- preparing for an upcoming conference lecture
- and much more!
I never take these things for granted, as it is the trust of our clients that allows to take on such interesting and varied work. And, even when I'm on vacation, I can't help but notice great brands when I come across them - like the coffee stand at the base of a mountain in Utah called Bumps n' Grinds!
