I’m not exactly sure why, but this dispute filed by Beardo this week regarding beard hat trade dress and design patents fascinates me. Note that one of the defendants, Bearded Apparel, Inc. owns a trademark registration since 2011 with a description of the “product configuration of a knitted hat having a stylized facemask featuring a beard and mustache.” See picture below.
