The Association of Intellectual Property Firms (AIPF) annual meeting will be held in Washington, DC on September 30th and October 1st, 2013. The program from the AIPF (on whose Board of Directors I sit) features at least two sessions of interest to trademark practitioners:
Practicing in Front of the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB)
- Two administrative trademark judges and former interlocutory attorneys share their insights and advice for improving your practice in trademark oppositions, cancellations, and ex parte appeals before the TTAB.
- Featuring Judges Michael Adlin and Thomas Wellington of the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
Trademark Global Strategy – Keynote presentation by Cecelia Dempsey, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters
- Filing trademarks and copyrights for a U.S. company with global aspiration can be very challenging. Lengthy infringement litigations and filing for the protection of all distinguishing product and service marks and other IP rights is critical to establishing, safeguarding and enforcing company assets. Protecting copyrights, trademarks and patents is a challenging task especially in a global setting. This session will cover the approaches to take when registering trademarks and copyrights in order to succeed in protecting and enforcing IP as part of a global platform.
The two day program also features sessions on patents, many of them with a global perspective, and “Brand of Excellence” topics related to the management, development and marketing of specialized IP law firms.
You do not need to be a member of the AIPF to register for the annual meeting.
