There has been a lot going on at the USPTO lately, with many changes to rules, new Exam Guides, IT changes affecting online filing status and availability, a Supreme Court decision affecting trademark applications, and more.

What are the best ways to stay up to date on trademark developments at the USPTO? There are a variety of ways that applicants and attorneys can make sure they have the latest news.

  • Subscribe to e-alerts from the USPTO
  • Attend or watch meetings of the Trademark Public Advisory Committee (TPAC) held quarterly
  • Attend conferences and webinars on trademark subjects from leading trademark organizations, bar associations, and content providers
  • Participate in committees in IP organizations such as the IPO, INTA, ABA-IPL, and AIPLA

In my experience, these are the most effective ways to stay up with developments from the USPTO. There may be other ways (feel free to leave a comment) as well, but if you want the best information it should come directly from the source, the USPTO.
